Under standing Mental Health:
Mental health is a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well, and work well, and contribute to their community. It is an integral component of health and well-being that underpins our individual and collective abilities to make decisions, build relationships and shape the world we live in. Mental health affects how we think, feel and act.
It also affects our everyday life, such as work, relationships, and study. Looking after our social and emotional wellbeing is as important as keeping our body healthy. When we are feeling emotionally healthy, we can be fully present with our family, friends, and community. In Australia, around 1 in 2 people will struggle with their mental health during their lifetime.
Learning about mental health will help you look after your social and emotional wellbeing. It will also help you support people close to you. It is important to get support early if you are feeling unsettled or struggling. We have information and resources about the signs and symptoms to watch out for and where to find support.
The key to building wellbeing is finding out what works for you. That is why we created our Wellbeing Action Tool. Designed with the community, we learned that finding meaning in the small but special things can benefit our daily lives. And the value of having a place to write down what works and why.
Are you looking to reset? Or do you want to improve your wellbeing journey? This Wellbeing Action Tool is for you.
